Label Kits: Benefits & Uses

What’s A Label Kit?

Label kits are one sheet of different labels, grouped for a particular task or product. If you’ve bought personalized ID labels from our IDmyStuff® or Club-Valet® product lines, you’ve purchased very simple label kits. But the only choices you have on those label kits are what the text says and what color you want.

Our more typical label kits are both more complex and more specific than that, and usually, all the labels in the kit set go onto one product.

Labels in custom label kits can vary in shape, size, and color, but you need to decide on one material and adhesive choice. (You probably want that anyway, for consistency in look and feel.)

Most of our kits are made using our industrial equipment (short run) product line.

Note: We can't run kits on the Lexan® material. If you need extra protection for your labels, add a laminate. Options may include a 5-mil LexSaver® or 8-mil polypropylene laminate, depending on the material you select.

Advantages of Label Kits

  • All the labels you need, together in one sheet - no missed labeling
  • Price can be better than ordering each label separately
  • No running out of one label before you run out of the others
  • Easy to see when new ones should be ordered

A lot of people aren’t aware that label kits are pretty easy for us to set up. And they can save you - or your employees - a whole bunch of time, trouble, and probably even some money.

Say you need to put 6 labels on one product. Wouldn't it be much easier to having one sheet with all the labels you need? No more pulling the wrong label from a roll; no more running out of one label ahead of your next order.

As a side note, kits are different from combos - a combo is basically two labels. For instance, a roll of wine labels can have sets, one for the front and one for the back of the bottle. Combos are generally manufactured on rolls, with the front label immediately followed by the back label, which is followed by another front label, etc. These sorts of labels are usually machine applied and work well in a processing line. Label kits are on sheets, not rolls.

We get a lot of orders for kits from manufacturers (of tractors and other heavy equipment), HVAC and electrical firms, even fire departments. For fire departments, we frequently “color code” each kit, so that labels for each truck’s equipment has a different color. It makes sorting out which equipment belongs to what truck much easier after a fire or drill.

Promotional Uses

Label kits are great for promotional uses as well. I have a lot of magnets on my fridge at home, for instance. But magnets are not great in lots of locations.

Many people love stickers. They also like to add little pops of color to things like their laptops, phones, or iPads. These are not places where you ought to put a magnet! Promotional label kits work well as magnet replacements in these cases.

When I asked Stacy, one of our sales reps,  for some examples, she pulled out this CreativeTechs label kit from a couple of years ago. It contains 14 labels, with different shapes and sizes, bright colors, and of course, the company name, phone, and URL.

The narrow stickers fit on the edges of computer monitors, keeping the contact info handy, while the larger size stickers can be placed elsewhere.
